Woke up in the early hours on the edge of nervousness; a tension in my belly a precursor to slight anxiety. And I bet I’m not the only one!
The uncertainty of the new Coronavirus variant, people drowning in a bid for freedom, lashing storms and winds… and, at a small personal level, trouble with a new boiler that needs settling to ensure the warranty.
In short, nothing that’s within my control!
And we human beings so love to feel in control even though we never are. There’s an old teaser that goes, ‘How do you make God laugh?’ Answer… ‘You tell him your plans!’
We create an illusion of certainty in our structures, our schedules and, of course, those ever present plans. So when we notice things are out of our control our fear system kicks in; all the way from on the edge of nervousness to stark staring looking-down-a-barrel terror!
The trick is to know that it’s a part of your personality that’s fearful… not your essential self. And that you can help it to calm.
Breathing deeply, long and slow, triggers your calming down bio-physical system. Reading inspirational quotations feeds your soul and lifts your spirits. Inhaling the aroma of essential oils, like Bergamot, have a calming effect. Remedial therapeutic work with your fearful self can bring it to a more peaceful place.
Sit comfortably, close eyes and focus deep down into your belly taking a few deep breaths, and, trusting your own inner wisdom, let your Wild Soul show you how deeply loved and held and safe you really are.
