OK I admit it! You know how it is… It’s Sunday afternoon and I don’t want to do anything but eat chocolate and watch a good film.
There’s washing in the machine that needs drying, a fresh duvet to put on, some decluttering calling… In fact there’s loads I could be doing and my whole being yells up, ‘Feet up, woman. You need a break!’
So that’s what I am doing. Notice there’s no mention of chocolate eating but, hey, I’ll skip over that one.
In my earlier life listening to my ‘being’ didn’t exist. Doing, doing, doing did.
You could eat your dinner off my toilet seat. I’d get up at 6am to make sure every other freakin’ aspect of my home was also spit spot in best Mary Poppins’ tradition.
In fact, it wouldn’t have taken much for me to make the beds with the kids still in them!
All an overcompensation for the sloppy parental home I’d been raised in AND for things definitely not feeling spit spot inside. I felt restless, dissatisfied and that something was missing but I didn’t know what.
I’d blame my feelings on my relationship with the husband. I’d blame them on the job. I’d blame them on us not having enough money to do stuff I wanted to. I’d blame them on… well, just about everything except listening to what my Wild Soul was trying to tell me!
And what was it trying to tell me?
That there was indeed more to life than I knew about, what it was and how to enjoy it. It also showed me what I needed to live life mostly energised, enthusiastic and motivated.
However, it took me years and years of floundering around until I discovered that.
