‘Whatever you do, do not use the word SPIRITUAL!’
What the …….!
Why was SPIRITUAL a dirty word?
Back in the early eighties it smacked of religion with all its rituals, its upsides and its very dark downsides. Its pomp and ceremonies. Its manipulation of congregants’ experience so the celebrant or priest is the conduit through which the divine’s word flows.
Through which holy intentions are interpreted… Through the establishment, through only men at the time in the UK, through the patriarchy.
So in the twentieth century, when ‘science’ was seen as the only legitimate method of enquiry, to have SPIRITUAL psychology called so would ensure it was chucked in the trash can as not credible.
So my seven year training was called ‘Transpersonal,’ i.e., ‘extending beyond or transcending the personal.’
There’s a nice dry definition for the beyond-beyond, the mystery and magic of spirituality if I ever heard one!
AND…
…To my freakin’ delight…
Neuroscience now shows that you and I have an innate capacity for spiritual experience. That there are clear areas of the brain that light up when we experience deep connection, a sense of being part of something bigger than ourselves, one-ness, belonging, transcendence.
HA!
PLUS…
Scientific studies of people with lived experience of spirituality show it’s associated with better health outcomes, including greater longevity, coping skills, including with stress, and better health-related quality of life as well as less depression and anxiety.
At this moment, imagine me giving the most huge, fruity, juicy and delicious fist pump you’ve ever seen.
Watch out women!
Especially exasperated mid-life women on the edge of a scream.
Whatever you think is going on is and, at another and deeper level, isn’t.
Watch this space…
Love and wild warm wishes…

Be inspired, enthused and free!
PS… I cannot tell you how excited I am…
Last week I downloaded what I heard was ‘spirit school.’ A nine week programme for you to connect with YOUR spirituality so you can reap the benefits above AND deepen, broaden and elevate your everyday life experience.
It’s too precious to rush so I am definitely not rushing. Email me if you’d like to be kept in the loop…
