I woke at 4.45 am this morning… Things on my mind… I bet I’m not the only one who wakes up very early right now.
Note to self: Keep away from the news!
Seriously, the internal anti-life gremlins love anything that’s likely to pull you down. And media news is one of those things because it’s hard to not be adversely affected when it’s reporting mainly upsetting or negative stuff.
So what’s a woman supposed to do?
Go on a counter-offensive…
1. Go wild!
If you’ve got some grass to walk on do it bare-foot… and slowly. Feel the earth solid beneath your feet and the green springiness reminding your sole of growth and aliveness. (Yes, I get the pun!)
Find a spot in nature; a garden, public park or natural verge somewhere… Drink in what you see with ALL of your senses so your Wild Soul can celebrate a bit of sanity and be nourished by the sights-sounds-smells-and-tastes of creation.
Alternatively, have a picture of nature in which you can immerse yourself or imagine you’re really in a beautiful safe place in the countryside. Your brain doesn’t know the difference between reality, a memory or a fantasy and so creates the experience and feelings of actually being there every time!
2. Go high!
Read inspirational stuff that you love. Many years ago, deeply depressed, I copied and pasted three A4 pages of online inspirational quotations. I read and re-read them in the darkness of the night and any time I needed something to hold onto.
One of my favourites from Winston Churchill… ‘When you’re going through hell, keep buggering on!’ Can see him now; rotund, cigar smoking and pugnaciously wonderful as a war-time leader.
Just what you need when there’s an inner war of any kind going on… To know that the way out is the way through… And you will get there!
3. Go colour!
I’m a great advocate of putting the lippy on to lift spirits. No, seriously… Try it when next you need a boost.
You can also create an environment of colour in your living room to lift and calm. Looking round, I’ve got splashes of red, indigo, gold, ochre and green in mine… Deeelicious!
Needless to say, avoid dark and gloomy colours which stimulate the same in you.
And please remember to eat a rainbow coloured mix of fruits and vegetables. They please your eye AND, rich with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and phytochemicals, they also have healing powers.
To summarise…
Go wild, go high, go colour, woman!
Hey, how’s that for a perfect mantra?
Love and wild warm wishes…

You are perfect imperfection with a delicious divine light
that yearns to shine and touch the world.
So let it shine, woman, let it shine!
PS… I almost forgot the Serenity Prayer which helps me get stuff into perspective… “God (Goddess, Universe, or whatever works for you) grant me the SERENITY to accept the things I cannot change, the COURAGE to change the things I can, and the WISDOM to know the difference.” This so works for me… Drop me a line at sharon@thewildelder.com if it does it for you too!
