It’s been a week and a half!
What with work, new windows and a door installed at the front of my house, planning my book, and organizing a local women’s event happening on Saturday. By Mother’s Day here in the UK, I was pooped.
Did you know ‘Mothering Sunday’ was about returning to the church in which you were christened, for an annual service, a re-commitment to your Christian faith? Going back to your ‘mother church’ also enabled you to pop in and see your biological mother at a time when they usually stayed in the locale.
And that’s how we got Mother’s Day!
But it’s not just about biological mothers for me.
Some of us don’t have a mother around anymore and, for others of us, they weren’t around for us when we did have them around!
Indeed, some of us who were lucky enough to be ‘mothered,’ received that from sisters, cousins, or aunties. From friends, a kindly teacher, the lady next door, or a father or an uncle!
And yet for some others of us, we received mothering much later in life when it helped soothe and heal some of our early wounds.
Because the mothering aspect of the divine feminine is not just about nurture. It’s also about redeeming through the healing power of Love. And there’s no developmental window that prevents it from doing so IF you are open enough to receive it.
And, sometimes, you just yearn for a bit of loving from A N Other. And if you don’t have A N Other in your life, you might think you’re stuffed!
Not so…
I remember talking with an old Buddhist monk about the pain I felt from a relationship ending. ‘I suppose,’ I said, ‘that the hugeness of the pain I feel mirrors the hugeness of my love for him.’
He smiled knowingly. ‘Oh no,’ he said. ‘The hugeness of the pain you feel is because you believe you can only get that kind of love from one person. In fact, there’s an abundance of love all around you.’
Although cynical at first, that’s when I learned how to experience the continuous, all-embracing, and oh-so-warming energy of divine feminine Love. Always there, always available, and ready for you whenever you desire it.
Close your eyes, relax your shoulders, and breathe deeply… Imagine feeling the healing energy of Love like the warmth of the sun as it gently embraces you, from the top of your head, moving down-down-down to the bottom of your feet; enfolding you in the safe and warm blanket of Love.
There for you… always!
