I’m being challenged to post videos on my social media; to be seen and heard in all my glory. I don’t just feel Eek, it’s a freakin’ EEEK!
Like many women, I don’t want to go there. I don’t want to be visible, to stand out, or put my head above the parapet.
Well, a PART of me doesn’t want to…
The rest of me is passionate for women to really get how magnificent, talented and able they are, you are. And how your Wild Soul can guide you to express all your divine-feminine-given abilities right here right now on earth.
A definite SHAZAM!
But it’s no wonder many of us avoid being visible. Women have been invisible forever. Think about famous scientists or chefs or history makers. I bet you think of a lot of men with, if you’re lucky, one or two women who made it, like Marie Cure or Marie Stopes.
Historically, the vast majority of women had to pretend they were men to be taken seriously. Think of Joan of Arc or George Eliott, author of Middlemarch and Mill on the Floss, otherwise known as Mary Ann Evans.
Who???
No surprise we women are reticent about being visible. It’s been conditioned out of you, including how your family/culture behaved in response to you shining or taking centre stage.
I was called a show-off or actress and made fun of to the point of humiliation. As I write that, I feel melty and compassionate toward that young part of me who, very understandably, doesn’t want to be seen and heard. Poor girl!
I tell her how bright she is, how talented, how gorgeous. And that grown-up-me can handle posting videos talking about the stuff I love on social media.
She relaxes and I squeeze her hand with reassurance.
ENOUGH!
Whatever your history, woman, if it stops you from being seen, heard and receiving positive attention, maybe you’ve got a young part who needs love, encouragement and reassurance too.
