There’s no two ways about it, it’s been a bloody time!
I’ve had my bathroom totally gutted and renovated. A brand new 21st-century bathroom with a walk-in shower, so it’s future-proofed for when I get old.
Chortles to herself at the denial of being old!
Now, there’s a topic to be explored.
But I’m leaving it for now, because the focus of this Blog post is…
Well, a bit of background first…
The builders descended and, as you can imagine, a lot of activity in and out of the house. Removing rubble, the bringing and taking of tools and necessary materials, the drilling, the banging… the dust!
Although my #1 son helped me cover the doors and furniture throughout the house with transparent plastic coverings, the dust still seeped through. And even though I camped in my kitchen, well away from the building site, dust caught in my throat now and again.
Coughing and spluttering when you’re trying to record a podcast is not the best!
Anyhow…
It all reminded me of how the external environment in which you operate has a profound impact on your “internals”. In this case…
The disorder and chaos going on visually, with my house topsy-turvy, auditorily, with all the freakin’ noise, kinaesthetically, with navigating supplies and plastic dust sheets, and my hands became so dry….
ENOUGH!
Just conjuring up the memories has triggered feelings of overwhelm and agitation.
And now I remember a meme I saved years ago…
“Before you diagnose yourself with depression or low self-esteem, first make sure you are not, in fact, surrounded by arseholes!”
I second that!
And the meme is yet another example of how the externals can affect the internals, showing how your external environment can impact your body, feelings, mind, and your very being.
So, check yours out, woman…
How’s your environment impacting you?
