I’ve been asked to take on the wise woman, to fully own, embody and express her in and through me.
W T F… me???
Me with my doubts and insecurities, my unfinished business? Me, who can’t abide floaty rituals, circle dancing or repetitive drum beating?
YES YOU!
Isn’t it always the way? You and I get asked to stretch ourselves big time, to become more of our magnificence, and what do we do but balk at it.
Not me, guvnor!
And look at what I just did. I immediately associated being a wise woman with the type of rituals, dancing and noise I can’t stand… As if you can’t be a wise woman without them.
Ergo… I can’t be a wise woman!
Tears prick my eyes…
Why is it sometimes such a struggle to step into your ‘big-ness?’ After all the freakin’ years of working on myself some calls to expand just hit a nerve that has me heels dug in trying to rein in that runaway horse.
Have you ever had that ‘whoa’ feeling too?
If so, I bet your bottom dollar there was a fear of something lurking beneath it.
And my fear?
It springs to mind immediately… The fear of being grandiose and damaging others.
O M G… where did that one come from?
Now, while its origins would satisfy my curiosity, I don’t need to trawl through my history to find the potential trauma which gave rise to such a fear. Indeed, just watching how some ‘gurus’ behave in the human potential and psycho-spiritual ‘industries’ has been enough to know I don’t want to be like them!
And I soften.
Even just naming my fear makes me feel safer to embody and express the wise woman I truly am. For, when you make your fear your friend, it keeps you on your toes.
It ensures you don’t slide out of integrity for the highest good with others as well as yourself.
I sigh with relief. Not a runaway horse anymore but a gentle mare nuzzling my personal and spiritual evolution.
