I spoke with a friend this morning about books and that she didn’t enjoy reading them.
She thought the sole purpose of a book was to impart information. And, as she can’t remember all the information (who does?), reading a book gives her no pleasure.
Not surprising, given her belief!
Maybe she equates reading with having to consume uninteresting schoolbooks and then get tested on the information they contain.
Maybe she’d never found a genre that she loved. For example, my mother loved historical novels and read little else.
But let’s get back to what books are for…
Yes, to impart information but also, for me, to entrance us, to emotionally stir us, and to help us evolve as human beings into more of our magnificent potential.
To freakin’ GROW!
