‘You are not charging high enough!’
I looked a bit sheepish and began several rationalisations to legitimise my current fee starting with the word ‘but.’
Dang… hung on my own petard!
How many times have I told clients the word ‘but’ wipes away any of the good things said before it? In this case, the back-handed compliment my marketing strategist gave me in seeing my work was worth far more than my current fees.
She remained adamant.
And I was left smashed up against the wall of not enough self-worth.
You know how it is, you sell yourself short because not to do so would be bragging and you don’t want to seem too big for your boots… The goddess forbid!
Or you have no problem giving-giving-giving but receiving is a whole other issue?
Or, you tend to under-rate yourself on anything and everything; good old imposter syndrome, or a case of self-denial.
Or selling yourself short, those subtle put-downs, are such a habit, you rarely notice you’re doing it… if ever!
ENOUGH!
This might sound strange but one of the reasons I love working with my market strategist is she makes me feel so uncomfortable. She pushes me way out of my comfort zone and leaves me wriggling on her cleverly facilitative hook.
And, right now, she’s holding a mirror up to me so I get to see what she sees and to respect my long, skilful and wise service history, my fierce knowledge and application.

Where are you not valuing yourself highly enough? What of your skills, abilities and energies are you under-rating? How much more are you worth than you allow?
Uncomfortable to contemplate, isn’t it?
How could your life be more meaningful if you only rated yourself more highly?
My next step?
Compassion for the part of me that dumbs me down and great love for the courageous part of me that holds me up to my shining.
I know if I don’t take appropriate action nothing will change. So, as of now, my Wild Soul 6 session therapeutic programme is £100 more than it was yesterday; phase 1 of my fee increases!
