Last week was a bit of a nightmare!

It started at the weekend when I fell flat on my back getting out of the bath. You know how it is. My foot was on the bathmat one second and the next it was propelled upward at a fast rate of knots.

I lay still for a few minutes and cried in a big moany way to relieve the shock and pressure.

Vigorous rubbing of my lower back was followed by ice bags on and off, coupled with alternate sitting, lying and walking about. My wonderful back responded positively. In 36 hours I was as right as rain apart from the sneezing.

Hay fever? A cold?

Wrong!

By Tuesday night raging flu or a virus or an intergalactic lurgy, high temperature and a hacking cough. Suffice it to say I went horizontal and lacked uninterrupted sleep for 48 hours, felt shit for another 24 and had a voice croaky beyond croaky.

The rib cage and stomach muscles… I never knew they could be so sore that breathing itself was an event to be avoided!

BUT…

By Saturday morning I was out, a little wobbly on my feet, but out there. Who knew a visit to the supermarket could be a bit of heaven after being incarcerated and feeling ‘left for dead’ for days?

AND THE MORAL OF THE STORY IS…

Well, my body couldn’t be more explicit, could it?

How many times do I need to tell myself to take more nourishing time out before my body, ably encouraged by my Wild Soul, literally sweeps me off my feet?

Freakin’ freakin’, Sharon!

My habit of being a Duracell Bunny, as an act of rebellion against the aching boredom of a childhood spent in a low-energy, depressed and inactive family, has its benefits. My life, if nothing else, is certainly productive.

However…

That I’d gone unconscious and lost touch with the Bunny’s override button tells me there’s a bit more remedial work yet to be done!

By Sunday, kids and grandkids were round at mine for a deli lunch with plenty of affection, warmth, humour, upmarket Christmas crackers (in July, what else?) and even a ‘pub quiz’ game that had us roaring, oooing-aaaing and falling about with uncontrollable laughter.

Just what I needed…

How about you?

Has your magnificent body ever stepped in to teach you a lesson or two?

Love and wild warm wishes…
