Many women feel soooo uncomfortable being visible.

Don’t get me wrong, when I was a young woman you would have thought I was a raving extravert. The life of the party, up for whatever communal lunacy was going on.

But that was bravado!

That was part of the mask I’d developed over the years to “fit in”. Part of an identity I’d had to create to manage living as a human being in a milieu of other human beings.

I learned how to look, what to say and how to behave to look as if I was one of them.

If you read my legacy book, RE-DISCOVERED, launching this October, you’ll understand how that came about.

But, for now, take it from me, it’s been one helluva journey to re-discover who I really am and where I was going… Not so much what I came here to do. By my early thirties, I cracked that one.

How that happened is in RE-DISCOVERED too.

That doesn’t mean you become a totally sorted human being. And, as my work becomes more and more known… for example, I’ve been asked to guest on three podcasts recently… my old visibility fears have re-ignited.

What to do?

Work with someone who specialises in visibility, of course.

But you’re The Wild Elder, Sharon… Surely you know how to neutralise those fears.

Sure, I have my ways of doing the work BUT I can hoodwink myself. I can throw in a few red herrings and put myself off the scent of visibility marvellously.

Yes, I’ll do the reparative work with aspects of my personality holding the fears. But when it comes to sniffing out the finer details, I, like anyone else, need a professional to make sure I don’t bullshit because what’s familiar for me is to hold myself back.

The “professional” can do for me what I do for others!

So, if you see me, one hand pressed against my heart and repeatedly saying, “I feel delicious being visible” I’m not off my little grey cells.

And what about you? If you imagine being visible in whatever arena you wish, what are the POSITIVE feelings you’d love to feel?

Yes, I know fear can pop up. Just thank it for telling you to be fearful AND, right now, I’m imagining how delicious (you put in your own describing word) being visible is.

And you too will begin to crack this general and well-conditioned tendency in we women to fear visibility.

BTW if there’s no fear, just check whether you’re full of bravado as I was back then! 😎

Here’s to us, woman…
