Oh No… The Christmas Crap Has Started.

It happens every year. The moment Halloween ends, your social media feeds and the TV explode with tinsel-drenched yuck! Matching pyjamas, serene family scenes, and “here’s my tree up in November” posts.

And for many midlife women, the reaction isn’t festive cheer. It’s a freakin’ deep and exhausted, “Oh no… here we go again!” In reality, it’s more about, “Here I go again!”

A recent survey of British adults by OnePoll found 80% of women say they carry the majority of the mental burden of Christmas, including planning, shopping, cooking, wrapping presents, cleaning, etc.*

Some “holiday” that is!

And for midlife women, in particular…

You’re often already balancing (or not!) work, children, ageing parents, and your own midlife rite of passage!

Christmas can exacerbate existing inequalities… The “invisible labour,” the mental load of organising, the expectation to create emotional warmth and “holiday magic,” often falls on you, even if you’ve spent most of your life pushing against societal expectations.

So, if you’re one of those 80%, here’s your chance to rebel because midlife is the perfect time to stick two fingers up to the whole shambolic thing!

Our conditioning about how girls and women should behave generally, AND at Christmas, to smile, to keep the peace, to make it magical for everyone else, is a freakin’ pain.

And it’s time to realise you don’t have to play this game anymore, unless you consciously choose to do so, of course! Because…

Midlife is the perfect opportunity to change the rules.

You’ve lived long enough to know the façade doesn’t equal fulfilment at any time, let alone Christmas! Ho ho ho and goodwill to all men?

I hope the irony’s not lost on you! 😊

You’ve several decades ahead that belong to you, not to the expectations of others about who and what you should be and do!

So, if Christmas content is making your eyes roll, your stomach drop, and your passion fizzle… EXCELLENTIO!

That’s the part of you that’s tired of performing, of being a “good girl.” So, gird up your loins, superb woman, and choose yourself over others, truth over tradition and self-respect over self-sacrifice.

Ditch the glossy nonsense designed to keep women pleasing, producing and perfecting!

Ooo… I do love alliteration!

AND…

Let the Christmas crap roll right by you and…

Learn how to be true to you, woman…

Be true to you!

Love and wild warm wishes…
